Caregiving can SOMETIMES LEAD TO A LOSS OF IDENTITY. BECOMING A CAREGIVER DOESN'T NECESSARILY MEAN YOU HAVE TO LOSE SIGHT OF WHO YOU ARE.
Ritual: Reconnect with Your Identity
This takes about 5 minutes:
Without thinking too much, quickly write a list of things you've been craving or missing since you became a caregiver (e.g. hiking, a creative outlet, hosting dinner parties, travel, social groups or events, etc.).
Pick one thing that would be relatively easy to pick up again.
Is there someone you used to do this thing with somewhat regularly? If so, email, text, or call them and make a date to do that thing together.
If not, schedule a time for you to do the thing within in the next month, and commit to doing it. (If telling a friend or loved one & asking them to keep you accountable is helpful, by all means!)
